My Website is complete!

All I have left to do is fill it up with content. That was a huge job and it took me almost all summer to get it finished. I've never built my own website before. I've learned a lot through trial and error. I'm almost bald from pulling my hair out! But it's done and I'm proud of myself for completing the job. There was a few times I just wanted to say F it! I have to add that I would have never ever finished this had I not run into a really great gal online Cathy, she is the owner of Devoted Moms

Cathy helped me when I had questions about html and how things worked. A couple of times she litereally sat online with me just about all day until I could get things straight in my head! Wow! That says a lot for the kind of person she is! She doesn't even know me and she was willing to help me not just for a minute but for HOURS! Make sure you check out here site! Lot's of great information!

I have so many ideas and I feel like I don't have enough time in the day to get these ideas out there! So I just work on it a little at a time each day before going to work.

LEARNING SOMETHING NEW...

Well...I think I got it figure out!!! Yeah!!! I pulled out the ole Dreamweaver program and have been playing with it for a few days and I'm almost done with my home page! And I've learned how to add other pages and links and pictures! It's great! Once I got the hang of it I was hooked. I stayed up until 2:00am last night on it. lol

Now all I have to do is find some content to add to it that will attract people to it. I want my new site to be geared more to helping people out there who are wanting to work from home for whatever reasons they have be it to stay home with their kids, or maybe they are handicapped, or whatever the reason may be. Me? I just hate going to that job day after day and living from paycheck to paycheck. I really hate it when I request vacation days only to be denied. I want to be able to take off when I want to without worrying if I'll be fired for it.

I want my new site to have great information and advice on different work at home opportunities and what to look for in a home business. I want to have info on what to look for in deciding if a biz is legit or is it a money scam. I want people to be able to advertise there businesses on my site without being charged an arm and a leg.

Ok...I'm rambling now. lol But anyways...That's what I've been up to lately. Building my OWN new website. :)

FLUSTERED!!!!!!

I'm so flustered today! I want to make my own website to do with whatever I want to do and I can't figure out this Dreamweaver Program! Grrrrrrr!

I need a teacher. I wonder if they offer classes at the college. Probably not. I think I'll call them anyway. I need to learn something new anyway.

I won! I won!

I actually won a prize! And it’s a great prize! There was a contest on the Devoted Moms message board. The person that posted the most on the board wins a prize! There was 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. I came in 3rd! Wow! I never expected that! I won a personal website hosting package. Yay Me!!! Thanks Cathy! Everyone should check out her site! It’s a great place to hang out at and all the members there are awesome! Everyone there is so helpful and friendly. She even has an arcade! Check it out and see for yourself! You don’t have to be a mom to be a member! Click here--> DEVOTED MOMS

I’m brain storming again! Now that I have a webhost I need to think about building a website to host. I have the free website but I don’t think that’s allowed. I’m going to have to find a website template that I can use because I know nothing about building a website. I have Dreamweaver but I don’t know a thing about it. Maybe I should play around with it. See what I can figure out. I’m really excited about this!

I’ve met a lot of very nice and helpful people since I started networking on the internet. I even got an enrollment this past weekend with the SHALI team by networking on message boards. Our 1st training session went very well. I have another appt with her this Friday.

I was very busy with another one of my business partners yesterday. She was asking so many questions and going on about how to fill out enrollment forms. I think I spent a good 2 hrs with her on the phone. I love it when the questions start because then I know they are thinking about growing their business. It gets really fun when they first learn how to do a 3-way call. They get so excited when they learn something new. I love helping new people get started. It’s such a rush! I really love it when they start using the products and they get excited about them! Our business is all about the products. Without the products we wouldn’t have a business.

The SHALI team and being in this business has helped me in more ways than one. I not only am living healthier but I’m helping others to do the same. I’m not only making extra money but I’m showing others how to do the same. I’m also building relationships with people all over the country. I feel like I’m coming out my little shell and stepping out of my comfort zone. I still haven’t mastered approaching strangers but I’m getting better with people I know and have conversations with. They all know what I do. I’m getting out there! Slowly but surely.

We are going to be moving into a new apartment in October. I’m so grateful for this. The rent is $200.00 cheaper than where we are now. After we move I think I’m going to look more into paid advertising. Even though I use free advertising I am spending time. And time is money. It’s very time consuming to go to all the different message boards and posting your ads. It takes time to figure out if a particular board is going to be a waist of time or not. Its work but I know that if I keep going I’ll make it. Just like many others on my team who have replaced their income and are now working from home. This has been a dream of mine for many years. It’s time to make it happen.

There’s a quote that I always keep in the back of my mind that really helps me to keep going with my business. I’ll leave it here. Maybe someone else can use it. ;)

“Shoot for the moon…Even if you miss it…You will land among the stars” -Les Brown

Have a great day!

Advertisings my Website…

This week I have been spending a lot of my time on the computer advertising my website and my message board. Trying to get seen! Since I don’t have a lot of money to spend I’ve been doing everything myself and using whatever is out there that is free. I mostly have been hanging out on other people’s message boards. It’s been very tiresome but I have kept it up all week at least twice a day. I’ve started being interactive as well instead of just posting in the ad sections. I’m even starting to get to know others in business as well. And people are starting to recognize me at different boards.

There was an incident on a free advertising board yesterday where someone attacked my post where I was advertising my business. He said that my business was a scam! And do I actually know if the company will even pay me! He thinks Not!! Well I wasn’t going to let him get away with making my business look like a scam! So I sent him a private message and very nicely explained to him the difference between a real business, a job, and a scam. I explained to him that my business with the SHALI team was legit and the company that we have partnered with has been around for over 21 years and is listed with the BBB and it wasn’t MLM. I told him I get a check in the mail every month for my hard work! I explained that you have to have a product or a service for a business to be successful and my company has both! I wrote more but this is the gist of it.

I don’t like confrontations like this and I have ignored it in the past but not this time! After I sent him the pm I posted in the thread where he accused my business of being a scam. I posted the exact same thing there that I sent to him privately. Then I got nervous. I’ve never done anything like this before! What if he gets angry? What if he posts more nasty things about my biz? I don’t want to argue with anyone. I figured that if that happened I would just quit that particular board.

Well low and behold! I got an apology! He posted a public apology and he sent me a private apology! He said he was sorry that he shouldn’t have said anything about my biz without knowing all the facts. And that my business was legitimate. I was shocked! And pleased with myself for standing up for myself and defending my biz. Yay me! I thanked him publicly and privately.

I called a gal that requested information about SHALI and wanted to get more information about what I do so I scheduled an appt with her to get her all the details about my business and she enrolled yesterday! I have a new business partner! I’m so excited! She’s going to love this business! I made another appt with her for this Saturday to get started with her training. Yay me again!

I’m not sure what’s in store for next week. I’m going to take my Mompack page out of hiding on my website and get a request form up this weekend. I think I have enough fillers now.

Have a great week!

Message Board is Up and Running!!

I finally got my new message board up and running! MOM’S WORKSHOP STOP It has been so much fun working on it! And I already have a few members! I just need some ideas on what I could add in the categories. I’d like to come up with some fun stuff. Something to attract visitors. I tell ya…just setting things up and getting things ready is so time consuming!

I changed the template on my website. The other one was just so blah looking. I wanted something fun. Something on the cute side. Well, I think I found it! I even have a matching banner and button to go with it! I wanted to make my own banner but couldn’t figure out how to do it so I had another person make it for me. I love it! And it was for an excellent price too! If you need a banner made just let me know. I’ll send you in her direction! She makes banners and buttons 2 for $5.00! You can’t beat that! And it’s pretty nice! I was impressed.

I was thinking today that I would like to learn to make banners for people like me that don’t know how or don’t have the program to do it. What program would you use anyway? I have Photoshop and I have Paint. Would those work? I don’t know much about either. Would anyone be willing to give me a lesson or two?

My Mompack fillers are just about ready to put together! I think I’ll need just a few more and then I’ll take that page out of hiding! I think the Mompacks are such a great organization! And it’s fun! It’s like Christmas time when I go to my mailbox. I just love seeing what other moms are doing in their businesses. It’s fun buying from them too! You can find so many unique handmade items. I wish I had something unique to offer that I could make and sell. But I have no talent in the crafts department. Lol. You can find the mompacks at http://www.mompacks.com

On a Personal Note:

Wow! I just looked up and it’s pouring rain outside! Where did that come from? I love it when it rains on a hot day. It doesn’t look like its going to last very long. Just a down pour shower. We need it anyway.

DD hasn’t called me today. She usually calls me everyday at the most inopportune times but not today. I’ll give her a call tomorrow just to see what she’s up to. She and her BF have been having problems lately and I thought they were going to break up last week but it seems like they’re working it out. I hope so. I really like her BF he’s such a nice guy. Plus they make a good team if they put their heads together. I think that if other people would just stay out of their business and just leave them alone they’d be ok. I always told my kids that the last thing I want to be is a meddling mother in-law. Lol

My step-son (15) made to Oregon yesterday. He’s visiting his mother til the end of August. He rode up with his grandparents. So me and DH are childless right now. Wooooohooooooo! Now that’s what I call a break! I think I could get use to this real fast! lol

I got some housework done today before going in to work tonight. And I did a little grocery shopping. So that means I won’t have a whole lot to do tomorrow and maybe I can find time to go to the pool before going to work.

DH is off from work tomorrow but I have to go in. (yuck) I hate working when he’s off. It’s not fair! Waaaaaaaa!

Well, it looks like the rain has stopped. See, I told you it wouldn’t last long.

Have a great Saturday!

Well here I am! Trying to be seen…

My name is Melanie. I’m married and I have 4 kids ages 24-15yrs. I’m originally from Florida. I lived there for the first 36 years of my life. I moved to WI about 8 years ago. EEEEKKKK! It gets COLD here! I really miss the Beach and the beautiful sunsets and the saltwater fishing. But I have found new things to do. Like skiing! And the bike trails here are great!

I work part-time from home and I have a full-time job as a receptionist at a senior healthcare facility. My goal is to replace my current income and work from home full-time. If anyone can tell me how to get this done faster than its going please post your comment! Lol

It can be really tough for me at times. I was very, very shy as a child but as I grew up most of that shyness faded. But even though it doesn’t show there is still a trace of shyness there. The hardest thing for me to do is approach people I don’t know. I practice in my mind when I see an opportunity to bring up my business or to hand someone my card. But that’s all I do at this point…practice in my mind. But talk to me online! Or on the telephone! No shyness there! But honestly…I don’t think my business is going to grow by talking to people online or calling leads. Sometimes I think I need a coach to get me past this bump in the road. I want to talk to people face to face. I want to invite people to come over for an in-home so I can demonstrate my business. But what would I say? What would I do? *sigh* I have to get over this if I want to succeed with this awesome business!

I know it can be done! My enroller, and my enroller’s enroller, are both working from home and they have even made it so there spouses don’t have to work outside the home either. That’s what I want! Actually there are quite a few people on my team that are making it! If they can do it so can I! Right?

So this is what I’m working on at this point in time…myself.

Have a great Friday!

Melanie
